VERTILAS NIR VCSEL product portfolio offers a broad product portfolio of single mode lasers for Tunable Diode Laser Spectroscopy TDLS systems. Lasers are available from 1.3 µm to 2.3 µm to detect a wide range of gases, such as HF, H2O, NH3, CH4, HCl, CO, CO2 and more.

The product portfolio consists of various standard products to address a wide range of key applications. Furthermore, VERTILAS can develop and produce customer specific products with dedicated wavelengths, performance and packaging options.

Below you can see a listing of the lasers available and the respective gases that can be measured. It also shows the various package options, incl. cooled and uncooled TO and TOSA type packages.
Vertilas Sensing VCSEL Design
Our unique long wavelength VCSEL concept is based on InP material, enabling to manufacture lasers from 1.3 µm to 2.0 µm. It features a a buried tunnel junction for the current confinement, an epitaxial top DBR, a multi quantum well active area and dielectric bottom mirror encapsulated by a gold substrate. It produces a very efficiant thermal design for lasers with high performance and high lifetime reliability. The active area is defined by a dry etching step of buried tunnel junction.

The VERTILAS GmbH develops and manufactures innovative laser diodes for gas sensing (Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy, TDLAS), optical communications and customer specific applications in the Near Infrared Range (NIR). VERTILAS® long wavelength Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VCSELs) are available from 1.3 µm to 2.3 µm with a wide range of packaging options, incl. cooled and uncooled TO packages, as well as LC-TOSAs and pigtails. VERTILAS® VCSELs are specifically designed and manufactured to offer excellent single mode performance. For sensing and spectroscopy markets, the standard product portfolio of the VERTILAS GmbH offers VCSELs for 12 main wavelengths and additional wavelengths can be manufactured on demand. VERTILAS® laser diodes offer a wide and fast
tuning range to enable rapid and precise measurements for ppm and ppb sensitivity levels. For communications applications, the VERTILAS GmbH develops and manufactures VCSELs for 1.3 µm, 1.49 µm and 1.55 µm. These lasers feature 10.3 Gbps and up to 40 Gbps transmission performance. Furthermore, for customer specific applications, the VERTILAS GmbH can offer 1D and 2D VCSEL arrays. VERTILAS® VCSEL technology enables system designers to reduce power consumption by 50% and more compared with other lasers technologies.
The VERTILAS GmbH, with its headquarters in Garching, was founded in December 2001 by associates of the Semiconductor Technology Group at the Walter Schottky Institute of the Technical University of Munich.
